The mission of the Tumaini Institute of Agriculture is to:
- Teach improved farming practices to the people of Iringa Region
- Increase Region’s agriculture production to 120% of subsistence
The goals of the Tumaini Institute of Agriculture are:
- Companion Village Plot Program: To sponsor demonstration plots with companion congregations
- To enhance agricultural training capacity including short courses and training for consultants, pastors, and farmers.
- To enhance seed and fertilizer distribution and information transfer
- To transfer researched practices of Sokoine University to Tumaini farms:
- Mpanga Farm: 7,000 acres located 245 kilometers south of Tumaini with 5,000 tillable acres very suitable for rice, corn, and bean production.
- Mgongo Farm: 537 acres located 9 kilometers north of Tumaini suitable for demonstrating improved growing practices and potential for Tumaini student involvement.
- Lulanzi Farm: 400 acres located 60 kilometers south of Tumaini suitable for demonstrating soil nutrient management and soil conservation methods.
